Lightsail is designed to be the easiest way to launch and manage a virtual private server with AWS

With Amazon Lightsail, you can deploy a virtual private server with just few clicks using preconfigured templates for your favorite Linux distribution, application or dev stack – including your wordPress , Magento , LAMP and more

Lightsail allows you to grow and scale your application over time. When your app needs advanced features, you can connect these AWS services to your Lightsail- hosted application.

Lightsail offers bundled plans that include everything you need to deploy a virtual private server – including a virtual machine, storage and networking – starting at a flat $5 per month.

You can create a Lightsail instance running an application. After your instance starts running, you can connect to it via SSH without leaving Lightsail.

With Amazon Lightsail you can use 2 types of operating systems

  1. Amazon Linux 2016
  2. Ubuntu Server 16.04 LTS

With Amazon Lightsail you can Launch your server with application

All Applications run on the Ubuntu Server operating system.

Getting Started with Amazon Lightsail

Step 1:

Sign up for Lightsail

Login to the AWS Console and Click on the lightsail and follow the instructions in next step.

If you don’t have AWS account, sign up by following link and follow the below procedure

Open https://aws.amazon.com/ , and then choose Create an AWS account and follow the online Instruction

Step 2:

Create your Instance

Pick Your Instance Image (application+OS) or (OS only)

Step 3 :

Choose Your Instance Plan as per your requirement

Step 4:

Name your Instance and then select create

Step 5:

After Creating Your Instance Connect to Your Instance

Congratulations!!! Your first Lightsail Instance in Ready.
